Sarah Shikes

Originally from Denver Colorado, Sarah has worked in the nonprofit sector for over 25 years. Through her experiences, she has developed a deep understanding of what it takes to run a successful nonprofit and what pitfalls to watch out for when considering sustainability and capacity. Most of Sarah’s career has been spent leading organizations that specialize in Early Childhood Education and Social Justice. She now works as a consultant supporting community efforts that promote belonging and equity for all of its residents. Sarah first got to know La Piñata del Aprendizaje in 2018, and became a member of its advisory council; she is thrilled to now be working as part of its team, focusing on resource and partnership development. She enjoys travel, spending time with family and friends, walking in the city, and hiking in the mountains.
